Pandemic

So many things are going on all at once I don't know what even to say about them, or how to feel about them.

The store shelves are empty like in a apocalypse lock down
that we always claimed was unrealistic
we were naive
selfish
unaware of the harm we were causing
people so selfish
taking everything for themselves
not caring about others

Why is it that
the toilet paper is the first to go
people afraid of being without it
when really i don't think that's the worst thing to not have.
It's simply a way to wipe the residue
it doesn't keep you clean
or protected
it simply makes you feel human

Hand sanitizer
something that I would consider important
again, not a single bottle left on the shelf
No scent of alcohol
no stinging in the cuts
hoarded by people with the money
and means to buy it all
not willing to leave it behind
There is a man, who bought 17,700 bottles of hand sanitizer in order to flood the market with higher pricing in this pandemic
Capitalism will be the death of many, many people

People all around me are calling out
attempting to make a connection
make someone listen
I am here
I am scared
and I am suffering
I am anxious
I don't know what to do
please find me
Help me
Call me
Let me know how you're feeling
Scream for me
Scream at me
Anything to make me heard
Let people know I'm here

now is the time to think of others
not yourself
we can survive this
we need to work together
I know it's cliche, everyone is sick of hearing it
but if we lose our humanity, our empathy
than what is the point
of attempting to live.
